Al-Ishraq Maha Vidyalaya, located in Pasaradichchenai, Pottuvil, has a rich history that dates back to December 3, 1956. Initially established as the Pasaradichchenai Government Muslim Mixed College, the school was founded through the dedicated efforts of Mr. I.L. Aadhamkandu. The establishment was made possible by the generous donation of land from S.T. Noorumma and H. Husain, marking the beginning of an educational journey that would serve the community for decades.

The school started modestly, with just 59 students and a single teacher. Despite its humble beginnings, the school quickly became a pillar of learning and development in the region. Over the years, it has grown significantly, both in terms of student population and academic offerings.

A major milestone in the school's history was achieved on January 1, 2013, when it was upgraded to offer Advanced Level education. This upgrade was a significant step forward, reflecting the school's commitment to providing comprehensive education to its students. With this upgrade, the school was renamed Al-Ishraq Maha Vidyalaya, symbolizing a new era of educational excellence.

The school's progress and transformation were guided by the leadership of Mr. M.L.M. Rafeek, who was the principal at the time of the upgrade. Under his stewardship, Al-Ishraq Maha Vidyalaya continued to flourish, providing high-quality education and contributing to the development of the community.

Today, Al-Ishraq Maha Vidyalaya stands as a testament to the vision and dedication of its founders, land donors, and the many educators who have shaped its journey. The school remains committed to nurturing future generations and upholding the values of knowledge and enlightenment in Pasaradichchenai and beyond.
